Professor Lonny Joseph Gordon who is currently connected to the Illinois State University – College of Fine Arts has notable educational credentials, fellowships, trainings and work experiences which demonstrates his knowledge in his craft and his skills as a professional who excels in his field. Lonny Joseph Gordon who continues to study and educate himself has acquired professional training in the visual arts and design which includes Mixed Media, Acrylic Oil, Tempera, Watercolor, Pastel, Charcoal, Crayon, Collage, Etching, Pottery, Calligraphy, Fiber, Photography, Film, Industrial and Graphic Design – all of which are under Media.
In addition, Lonny Joseph Gordon has attended several scholarly lectures such as “The Dance in Japan” at the University Forum of the University of Nevada in Las Vegas on April 21, 1994; “Dance of the Dark Soul – Butoh,” at the Third International Conference on Dance Research in Mexico on December 1990 where this lecture has been presented 8 times between 1990 and 1998; “Butoh and Performance of Sankai Juku in the History of Japanese Dance” at the University of Wisconsin on October 15, 1987, “The Japanese Noh Theatre and Dance” at the National University in Mexico on June 19, 1986 and the “Traditional Japanese Theatre and Dance” at the Columbia College in Chicago on April 18, 1986 where this lecture has been presented numerous times between 1986 and 2006.

Lonny Gordon who currently works as a professor at the Illinois State University – College of Fine Arts was invited to return to his Alma Mater back in 1976. Lonny was then granted tenure as an Associate Professor and Resident Artist in 1981. Lonny Gordon was then promoted to the rank of Full Professor at the University of Wisconsin, Madison on June of 1985 in which he served on the graduate faculty and as the Graduate Coordinator for Dance MA, MS, MFA and PhD degrees. In addition, Mr Gordon’s focus was on the internationalized enrollment in graduate programs through his world network during that time.
Apart from those mentioned, Lonny Gordon other professional experiences showed that he did extremely well in his career which includes being a Director for the New Arts Workshop, American Culture Center in Tokyo and Osaka in 1968, 1969 and 1979. Also, Lonny was an Instructor at the Performance Techniques and Composition, Mariko Sanjo Dance Studio in Tokyo and Osaka from 1968 – 1969 and did MFA Presentations at the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1967. Mr Gordon was a painter and did a One Man Exhibition of Watercolor, Collage, and Mixed Media Works which includes Costume and State Designs as well as choreographing “Fleetings” which is a Group Work that consists of 4 women and 1 man. For over forty year, Lonny Gordon has had a world class professional career as a solo concert artist and theatre design innovator. Mr Gordon has created a body of over 150 original Dance Art Theatre Works for sponsors and commissions all over the world.
In 2010, Lonny has received three new commissions for original theatre works.

Professor Lon Gordon currently works at the Illinois State University – College of Fine Arts. Prior to that, he joined the faculty of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas as a Full-time Professor and Chairman of the Department of Dance Arts in July of 1991. In 1993 till 1999, Lon Gordon was the Southwest Region Representative for the American College Dance Festival Association and the National Vice President for Membership for 1999-2004.
Lon Joseph Gordon’s numerous professional experiences showed that he truly excelled in the field of Arts. His other work experiences includes being a Guest Lecturer at the Design, Technique, Performance, Choreography, Kinetic Art Theater in Tokyo during the spring of 1970; Director for the Design Workshop of the National College of Chinese Culture in Taipai, Taiwan, December of 1969, Guest Lecturer of the Performance Techniques and Choreography for The Cultural Dancers of Malaysia, Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports of Malaysia during November of 1969, Guest Lecturer and Workshop Director for the National School of Drama in New Delhi, India during September of 1969, being an Instructor at Choreography and Improvisation at the University of Stockholm Ballet Academy during the summer of 1969 and being a Cultural Reviewer at the Asahi Evening News in Japan during 19868 – 1969.
